i appreciate the saying 🥺

We know a vet who does home service c-section, and that's very convenient because we dont have to go out just in case!!!

update: she might be in labor now, she went to my lap and her body is kind of shivering. Should I put her in her nesting box? Or just let her be on my lap right now?
Its Ok to let her be with you, because its what she wants. ps. Be with her, even if you put her into nesting box - she wants your company

I thought at first she's going to need emergency cs but right when I sent the vet her vid, the first one came out :)

i just have a question now though, how do i know if mommy pipay is producing milk? Im kind of worried because when I try to squeeze her teats nothing is coming out. It's been about 3 hours since the first kitten

If the kittens are nursing, this will first produce colostrum, then milk. The way to know if kittens are getting what they need is to weigh them daily and keep a log. Ideally they will gain 6-10 grams a day or more.

Is mom doing okay?

She's doing great. Handled everything like a champ. The maternal instincts kicked in right away, which was a relief. She's eating and drinking fine also. Shes taking good care of the babies now :)

i just noticed one of tnem - the orange one - isnt latching so well. I am not home now though so I can't help out with feeding. I hope when I get back in an hour or 2 they're fine!

Aww so happy for you! Congrats!

I also want to thank the community for the non-judgmental way they handled this story. I feel like anywhere else just reading the comments would stress me out, but here everyone just helped and advised in such a positive way...

Also Pipay's parent, you are doing such a great job.

update today: it makes my heart so happy to see them latching so well :)) the orange one is also very tiny, and just wants his mama's milk. I tried to syringe feed him but refuses everytime, so now I just make sure he's attached to a nipple every now and then.

1. I noticed that mama cat is bleeding just a little bit, is that normal and how long is that normal? And

2. I noticed her appetite isn't as much as it was before delivering the babies. She eats, but a little bit. Is that normal??

Today I noticed that one of them is tiny (the ginger one) and has a nipple preference. He usually goes on the underside of his mom, and I dont know why. Any ideas??

Im also kind of worried about his size compared to his littermates. I tried to syringe feed him tho but he didnt want to suckle on the syringe. I use a miracle nipple type of nipple, but this one's just silicone and its not from the brand.

he does seem to have a full belly every now and then though, its just that he's small compared to the others

Kittens usually do prefer a particular nipple and will always use the same one.

The kitten sounds like he’s the runt. You need to weigh him daily in grams to see if he’s gaining at least 6-10 grams daily. If not, he will need supplementing, but weighing on a digital kitchen scale is the only way to know.

It’s all normal. Mom cats bleed for 7-10 days until the uterus heals. Mom may still be full from eating 4 placentas, but her appetite may not be as big as when pregnant. Give her a dish or two a day of kitten formula to drink. She needs the extra calcium through her nursing days.

I got a weighing scale and he's at 85.5g yesterday. Today he's about 93-94g. How often do I have to weigh him, every feeding?

I see him latching good, and when he sleeps his belly is full. The only thing though is sometimes he gets bullied by his littermates out of a nipple, but overall his energy levels are great

Weighting usually every 24 hours, at the same situation if possible Every 12 in critical phases. If kitten is stabilized, everything OK and kitten visibly thriving you can even be a little slack and do it every other day... 8 g raise a day is fully OK, although after a while 10+ is better.

The starting point is somewhat low.

He's currently doing good now, however just gains about 5-8grams per day.

I noticed that mama cat isn't stimulating them long enough to poop, and so I tried to stimulate him. I think he's constipated. I saw this little poop that's hardened already and he was able to expel just a little of it - dont know if there's more hard poop in him or what. How do I help him poop?? 😭

i tried the warm water with cotton pad technique. I cant get all of it out because he keeps squirming 😭
