Hi. I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself and my kitties. I currently have two seniors cats and one new kitty that I very recently took in.
I have had cats my entire life. Growing up any time a cat of ours exhibited a problematic behavior my parents' solution was to surrender it to the Humane Society. We never kept a cat for more than a couple of years. It broke my heart every single time they would get rid of one.
That's enough about me, though. On to the cats!
Let's start with the new guy first.
His name (I think he's a he. Not quite sure) is Peppy. He's got beautiful long gray fur with a precious little tuxedo patch of white on his chest and white toes to match. I'm not sure how old he is. His owner passed away sometime in October. Peppy was alone with his deceased owner for at least a week before they were discovered.
Peppy was taken in by a relative of mine. The relative insisted that Peppy eat dry food and Peppy refused. Peppy did not eat much for a the couple of weeks he lived with my relative. After the relative decided that they were going to surrender Peppy I decided to take him myself. He was emaciated.
He's going to be heading in to see the vet soon where I'm going to have him checked out from tail to whiskers. He's a sweet little thing and although I've only had him a short while he's already made his way into my heart.
He won't sit on my lap just yet but he will let me pet and brush him and even lets me pet and brush his tummy. He has started to meow when I come into the room where he's being quarantined. I'm so glad that I brought him home.
Next up is my little lady, Sasha. She is eleven years old and I believe a long haired Calico. I rescued her on Thanksgiving Day 2011. She kept going into heat and instead of getting her fixed the people who had her were threatening to end her life in a very cruel manner. I decided that I was going to take her and they were more than willing to give her to me.
Sasha had been mistreated a lot more than I'd initially anticipated. It took about a year or two before I could pet her without her flinching away from my hand. She is my little 'fraidy cat who hides whenever anyone new comes to the house.
She's slowly turned into the biggest love bug. She loves being held and petted. She will often sit outside the bathroom door howling if you don't let her come in with you. She is very gentle, very sweet, and has the funniest meow.
Last but not least is my precious boy, Snowy. Snowy is a Flame Point Siamese and is soon to be thirteen years old. I adopted him from the Humane Society in 2010.
Snowy is a diet controlled Diabetic. Going through Diabetes with him was both frightening and empowering. I learned how to do a lot of his care myself. I learned to check his blood sugar at home and did his glucose curves at home as well. He went into remission very quickly and hasn't needed Insulin in a number of years.
I call him my Velcro cat because he is always stuck to me. He loves nothing more than for me to hold him over my shoulder like a baby. He is extremely outgoing and very, very vocal.
I look forward to getting to know everyone!
