I bought a digital kitchen scale to weigh my canned cat food and to have it for when I eventually go raw. I put a 5.5 oz can on the scale and it says it weighs 6.9oz. You think it that extra is from the can or does the scale not work?

The 5.5 oz on the label refers to the contents of the can, so yeah the can probably weights about 1.4 oz.

Try empyting the can of food onto a plate or into a bowl.  My kitchen scale has the ability to "zero out" after putting the plate on the scale, so I know exactly how much food I'm giving them.

Hi G gracecheng this thread is almost 5 years old, so the original posters will probably not answer you. You can buy a kitchen scale from a lot of places around here. I'm not sure where you're from, but here they have the more basic models in department stores, the bigger supermarkets etc.
