I'm fostering a mother cat who had three kittens five days ago. They were all around 100g at birth, but five days on, one of them is now 75g (the other two are almost 200g) I believe this is largely due to another kitten constantly pushing her off the teat, and I have taken steps to both supplement feed and give the kitten some solo time with mother, so I am hoping the weight will start to climb.
My question is this: all the posts here on this subject strongly suggest that this is very, very bad news. However, aside from her low weight, she seems otherwise well. She's feeding well when she is not being bullied off the teat, mother cat is looking after her, and she seems strong.
Has anyone had a kitten of this low a weight turn around and make it? I have spent all day ensuring that she is able to eat every hour. It has been almost twelve hours since her last weigh though, and she hasn't put on any weight.
