I have heard of snickerdoodle cake but I hadn't tried it.  I think it would be good.  There is a lady in this area who makes cakes in her home, mostly wedding cakes, and one of her available flavors is snickerdoodle.

Yes, I live in the South. We have had much rain and high humidity. I love the fall of the year when things cool off a bit. I like it when no heat or air conditioning is needed in the house. I love sitting on my screen porch when it is cool, a breeze blowing and my cat in my lap. We have fruit here in the yard that is ready now, three kinds of grapes and pears on the pear trees. I am going to cook some of the pears.
I used to make jelly when my son was still at home. Now I just eat what I want, take bags of them to church and give them away.
yes, i love the times of year when no heat or air conditioning is needed!
that sounds lovely, having grapes and pear trees in your yard!

There's no fall in Florida. Just more summer. No leaves changing or anything like that. When I lived up north, I hated fall because it meant school was starting again and it meant that winter was on the way. I loathe northern winters. Always have- always will.

I love winters here. We finally cool off for a while and I can shut the AC off.
yes! i felt the same way!

you have the citrus season there in Florida, from November through January. i look forward to the Elks (i think it is) fundraiser up here, having Indian River citrus for sale -- either in november or december.

Yes we do. There's nothing better than the smell of all those orange blossoms when they come in. It's so good.

Pretty pictures!

We like the changing leaves. There's a difference smell in the air when fall comes around. We like to have fires outside and sit there and spend the night watching the fire burn down. We like going down to the apple orchard and picking apples for applesauce, for apple pies, for apple dumplings. It's nice to have the windows open without all the humidity in the air.

It's also depressing though. The days start getting shorter; the nights start getting longer. I leave for work in the dark and when I have meetings after work, I go home in the dark. It gets cold; I hate being cold.
ahhh, fall is kind of 'bittersweet' for you then.

lovely fall time activities!

I love Halloween but it's always SO hot here then. I used to put the dog in a little costume and walk her around so she could see the kids but now that she's older (14), it's too much for her. The heat is too much.
awww, your Bailey must have looked so cute in her Halloween costume! she can still enjoy seeing kids 'trick or treating', in costume though...?

Fall has always been my favorite season too. I love the cooler crisp days, as well as the colors, although we don't get too much of it here on the coast of NC. Our spring & falls tend to be short, then right into the next season. I also love the in-between weather, not needing heat or air, & some days being perfect for opening the windows for some fresh air. I also love Thanksgiving. Mmmm the food!![emoji]128513[/emoji]
yes, Thanksgiving!
usually, we have a distinct difference in the weather here right after Labor Day. this year has been very unusual anyway, but we're forecast to have hot (83 to 91 degrees F) days for the week following Labor Day this year.

Hi Top Cat,

I've tried using the lawn mower on my leaves but the volume of leaves that I have is just too much. The last couple of years I got somebody to mow the leaves on a riding mower and he picked up the leave with the mower and put them in my back yard in the woods. I have a very small yard but there are 12 to 15 very large trees.
oh my!!! you do have a lot of trees. i think you're smart to have somebody come mow the leaves and move them for you!
i only have one very young red maple tree on my property, but there are many very large trees nearby. so i get quite a lot of leaves, which (most times) will be blown (by the wind) off of my lawn. i also have a leaf blower/vacuum, which i use to suck up the leaves and it then chops them up into mulch.

No. Not really. We used to do it this way because DH would be home to hand out candy. I'd take Bailey out to see the kids because she's SO bad when someone knocks on the door. She gets hysterical with the barking and carrying on. She's also a door darter. Unless I have someone to hold her, I cannot open the door and take the risk that she won't knock someone over and injure them. DD is at school so she can't help. She won't go for walks anymore either. She just drags me back home. She's arthritic so that doesn't help either. The glucosamine helps but these days she prefers to snooze in the cat room. If she were a human, she'd be in her 80's.

Autumn brings that special feel to the air that is hot sun on your shoulders but that cool feel to the breeze that keeps it so enjoyable. I love the smells too, dry leaves when they are spread over my cut perennials, the smell of bonfires at those football games, the smell of the earth as you are harvesting the last vegetables from the garden, there is just a special 'tang' to the air that I love.
