Okay, so Ra had a nightmare last night. Here's how I know this: he tucked me in, climbed to the top bunk, and went to sleep. (I went to sleep too.) Next thing I know Ra's impacting with my head so hard that two of his sheathed claws (and I know they were sheathed or the damage would have been much greater) puncture the skin right over my temple. That's a lot of cat for a sudden temple impact, and my head still hurts. His eyes were so wide that even in the limited light of my room I could still see they were open and he was desperately kneading my torso as he purred so loudly that Rose--the cat sleeping at the foot of the bed--woke up and left. It took a long time to soothe him, and then I wanted soothing this morning when I woke up with blood down half my face. (Head wounds bleed a lot.) I don't know what he had a nightmare about, but he was back to normal this morning. So--did I do the right thing? I think I did, since I soothed him enough that he was finally able to go back to sleep (and let me get back to sleep). Never mind; I know I did. The only reason I wondered is because my head still hurts. Blah.

Here is a picture of Ra, just taken a few moments before this post. See? You'd never know to look at him that he had such a rough night.
Poor kitty and poor you! Glad he's back to normal and I hope your headache goes away soon.

@Anne   Those photos are gorgeous.  I'm drooling on my keyboard again!  Every time I see pictures of the Alps or the mountains in Alaska, I can't help thinking, "Gosh...Bob Ross really got those right!"

@segelkatt   Actually, the huge advantage of plain water over any other drink is that it is the only substance that puts absolutely no strain on the kidneys to process.  I only have one, so I pay attention to stuff like that.  Well...I have two, but the left one is atrophied to the size of a walnut, and works at less than 5% normal.

@Margd   I love paint color names, too!  My personal favorite, which is no longer made, is "Champagne Bubble."  It was a clear, pale, delicate gold.  Pretty color, loved the name.  As for the Coke, well...yeah. It is addictive.  Not from the cocaine, but from the white sugar, which is more addictive than heroin.

We love mountains too! Alaska is on the horizon, so to speak. I am toying with this crazy idea of flying to the US in August 2017 to view the full solar eclipse from Oregon and then drive all the way to Alaska and back. We'll only have a couple of months, so it's doable but definitely a bit ambitious. I'm worried about potential costs more than anything. Alaska isn't cheap. Then again, it will be shoulder season, so who knows, it might just be affordable. I still need to look into that.

@DreamerRose

There is no way you could possibly keep angelfish in a 10 gallon tank without them being stunted. Fully grown angelfish should be around 6-8 inches from their mouths to their tails, and they can reach this size in one year or so.

Not half so much as I do! (I've got a a cold cloth held to my head to help make it feel better. It's not working.) Here's what I don't get: Ra is the terror of the yard. What could possibly give him  nightmares?

If you've got a bag of frozen peas, they're ideal for pain.  Someone should really market an ice-pack made in their image.  I hope your headache passes soon.

I made a black bean salad with corn fritters on the side. And I must say it was pretty darn good! I wasn't sure I would like it, as the corn fritter recipe called for cumin and chili powder in it, but I'm always up for trying something new. And boy did they go good together. Yummmmmmmy!

Mmmm.  That sounds very tasty.   I just went to my kitchen to make dinner and discovered that my freezer door hadn't been closed all the way for almost 24 hours.
The result is that everything is coated with ice and the items closest to the door have partially thawed.   If only I didn't live alone.  Then I could blame this on someone other than myself.

Oh no! That's not good at all? Can the food be saved? At least short term? I've refrozen items that have partially defrosted and they were fine. I did use them quickly though. I planned all meals around those items until they were used up. We had some interesting meals. Lol

Leaving in five minutes for the appointment. Will probably be way early. Did a test-run earlier to see how long it would take - glad I did, I couldn't find the place at first! Took about ten minutes to get back though, so adding five minutes to that to account for traffic. Really, the only traffic on this road is when I first turn on it, because the stop sign is so close. After that, not so bad.

Trying not to freak. I ate. Forgot the banana, too late now. But I ate Oreos and two hard-boiled eggs. We had no more English muffins :( Have a notebook with a folder that has my resume in it.

Yes, I think it can probably be saved, but I will be eating french fries, Lean Cuisine and mixed vegetables for a couple of days.  It is definitely not as bad as the time I totally filled my refrigerator and freezer and then the power was knocked out for several days because of a storm.  [emoji]128176[/emoji]

You will do great.  You're prepared, you've thought about it a lot and you're a natural fit for the job.  Good luck!

It becomes overwhelming. I hope that Mercy's dental is the last bill out of the blue for about 6 months. We need a new furnace. While the old one works it's really inefficient. A new one would pay for itself in a less than 5 years. it's just not in the cards. Same with the AC unit. They are both working so they are both staying. the idea of some new energy efficient windows.  nope. I can still paint because I bought the paint and the sprayer last year.

For what it's worth. I'd do it all over again for a chance to save Kitten and to keep Mook healthy and give Mercy the chance for a long happy life.
Yes, I know.

My husband has been feeling overwhelmed for the last four years, or more, to the point where he just stopped doing anything about the bills.  This is why I am now having to pay them off out of the reverse mortgage and my mother's estate, and we haven't even needed emergency cat care.  (I'm so sorry you were unable to save Kitten, and so glad that Mercy found you.)

We're doing our best to use the air conditioner not at all this summer, relying instead (so far) on open windows and a fan at night, and some spray bottle fans that I found at the grocery store.  Jasmine, of course, loves it -- she's not getting any of the spray and she can sit in the open windows all night and then sleep all day in the warmth.

Sometimes I just want to scream.  So much needs to be done, and there are only so many hours in the day.  Ah, well.  One way or another, we'll get through it.

I have found that fans in the window at night cool our house you then turn them off and turn on the ceiling fans. It prolongs the hours before I have to switch on the AC.  We eat a lot of slow cooker meals. In the summer I set it in the laundry room and shut the door. or I cook at night where the fans keep the kitchen cool. Don't run the vacuum during the day they throw out heat. And we only AC the part of our home that we're using. At some point it just gets too hot to not run them.

When we bought our house, there was a ceiling fan in the entryway (open plan living room/entryway/dining room/kitchen).  Roger is 6'7".  The ceiling fan is now stored in the basement so that we can replace it should we ever sell the house, or after I'm widowed.

Yes, I know about the heat getting to be too much, no matter what you do.  I'm hoping that by the time that happens this summer some of the pressure will be off so I can go to the mall or the library to get away from it.  Or a movie -- those are always over-air-conditioned.

I am going to meet a new cat at the adoption center. The cat may not be there too long, he has some potential adopters coming in tonight during my shift. Fingers crossed for him.

*fingers crossed* Hopefully he will show you are his the moment he sees you!

My interview went great. I don't think I can say I ever *enjoyed* an interview before, but I think I did this one. It was less about seeing if I was right for the position. I think she already felt that I would be good for it, but she brought up a list of positions they have open to see what would be the best fit. WOW. That kinda happened (not exactly, but kinda) when I came to IT, but that person had known me for a few years and it was internal.

I think what really impressed upon her was that I'm looking to make this a profession at some point, but want to get the experience. It's not about doing any one thing specifically, because all the pieces of the puzzle work together after all. I'm ok doing receptionist work - in fact, that was the position I applied for - but she asked me if I would be interested in doing vet assistant work. That is something I would LOVE to do!

There are a couple other people that handle the various areas I mentioned that will be getting in contact with me for an interview (neither were in today). I know she said one but perhaps both of them work on weekends, so may have something set up this weekend, or perhaps next.

Definitely don't want to jinx anything, so just taking things one step at a time for now, and enjoying the high I have at the moment.

We don't have frozen peas because no one in our home likes peas. (Given that the nutrients from peas can be gained from other vegetables we do  like; I don't see a problem.) The biggest problem is that every time I close my jaw (like in chewing or swallowing) it makes my head hurt again.
Still, it could be worse. Both Ra and  I could be feeling poorly.  His night wasn't anything to write home about either.
