Pretty
I'm working on another cat head at the moment. I have a few other cat pics finished, but they're not as good as the heads. I have a stack of mandalas too. I think i'm just being too perfectionist about things :lol3: Typical of me

Don't put yourself down. I like it the way it is.

I think the curse of colouring sometimes is that there are just too many choices about what direction to take. I so often finish a piece and wish I'd taken a different route. It's getting to the point where I'm seriously considering buying duplicates of some of my books so I can try out different options :lol3:

I really like your design with the multi colour outer riing @catlover19.  Nice pattern too.

Heheh, @Columbine, I found my self thinking that very same thing about the books the other night.

Maybe what I need to do is scan copy any design I think I really like BEFORE I start on it - not that I'm likely to get round to that but it would save an awful lot of money.   I need to save on the books because I keep wanting more colours of pencil!

Can't you copy pages before you colour them instead of buying new books?

I splurged and got the entire set of Prismacolor pencils
My head is spinning just looking at all the pretty colors
I did order from Amazon and it got shipped by the questionable Amazon Logistics carrier again
But the package did arrive on the day it was marked as delivered. Also got a new pencil sharpener and a book (for reading not coloring).

I'm planning on copying the images in the Creative Cats book so if something doesn't turn out quite the way I want, I have a fresh copy to use.

Your coloring is just fine, @catlover19

I like it. I think it looks pretty.

Rick got me a coloring book when we were exploring a bookstore in Ottawa. It's called Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book. There are items in the pages that you can look for while you're coloring the pages. For example, one page might have a ladybug hidden in the picture. Another page has 40 butterflies hidden. So not only do you color the picture, but you get to find the hidden things.

And while I was looking at the coloring books, an elderly gentleman walked over to me and told me how much he enjoyed Secret Garden. We started chatting about that book and some other books that he enjoyed coloring. And then several women started looking through the books and they were talking about how much they enjoyed different books. One of the ladies said that she tries to take one hour every night just to color. It's very relaxing for her.

@Winchester  That sounds like a fun trip to the book store.    Quite a spontaneous little colouring group got going there.
The Secret Garden was the first colouring book I bought, back a couple of years ago, and I still love picking out designs to do and seeing the various little things you can hunt out.   I think the gazebo image that LTS3 and Artiesmom both coloured comes from the Secret Garden too, I'm sure I noticed that image in it the other night!

@LTS3  Beware colour pencil additction!

I know what I'm like so when I ordered the Prismacolor set I have to confess to getting the complete 72 tin....  It's only a couple of weeks on and I find myself thinking how fast the Prismacolor pencils sharpen down (with being nice and soft) and how frustrating it is imagining even more shades and tones of colours to the extent I have been gazing longingly at yet more pencils.

I just had a birthday and my mom gave me some money to spend and guess what I'm going to use it for?    Yep, pencils.   I am settling on the Derwent 72 as the colours and shades seem to compliment the ones I have pretty well.   It's scary though as I feel this could be like when I was a teenager and spent most of my spare cash on paints and brushes.    Still, at least this is healthy and productive, there are much worse things to spend money on I guess.

stewball stewball I could copy images, but (like MServant) I'm just not that organised! Also, I really like having them all neatly bound, instead of lots of random sheets.

To all of you searching for more colours - can I suggest BLENDING? You can get way more colours and variations that way. ;)

They could of course be filed neatly but I understand you want say two books of one with all coloured differently.
You really must love colouring. Besides it not being my thing, I'd get an awful backache.

My pictures keep getting thrown out after I colour them. My 3 year old likes to put them on the fridge after and then my 11 month old takes them off and scrunches them up.

What a meanie!   He has such a cute face too.
You'll have to find a place that's out of his reach until he develops better taste in art work.

I'm no good at blending colors together
I can still see each individual color. The Prismacolor blending pencils may help.

Is it? I printed that image from here: http://www.coloring-pages-adults.co...t-vegetation__coloring-adult-kiosk-guarden__1

I am trying to work on another picture. I have done a few. A couple I have not finished and a couple I am ok with. I tossed a few because I was not happy with them. I spent 2 hours tonight doing one from creative cats. I was relaxed, had some nice classical music on, a candle, a glass of wine, I was pleased with what I accomplished; about 1/3 of the image.
I find that if I am stressed, then the pictures come out bad--- dark, scratchy, ugly looking.

There's not much out of his reach. He's tall, walking and climbs everything. I've put some away in the closet.

@newmamaof3  Those designs are gorgeous!   I particularly like how you have completed the Queen of Hearts, but they are all amazing.   I love the colours you have put together and they are all so neat too.   High praise for completling a book too!   I'm afraid I have several on the go... probably won't manage to finish any of them.
