Hi Folks,

I have been reading the forums for the past few weeks now, trying to wrap my head around the fact that I will have a cat coming into my life in a few days.

I'm just a regular guy, living in Tokyo, Japan and work has finally settled down to the point where I can consider getting a cat :)

Up until now, I have had various critters - birds, fish, hamsters and the like, but this will be my very first cat and I am excited/anxious/nervous and everything inbetween!

I am bringing home a happy little singapura kitten that I have been visiting the last few weeks. The breeder has been super helpful and has let me visit at all sorts of odd hours. He is currently coming into his 12th week and I can pick him up next week.

Anyway, thanks for letting me spill some of this pent up emotion - I still feel so unprepared!

Best Regards,

Tokyoite

congratulations!!  singapuras are  beautiful.  i hope you post some pics.

you're poised on the beginning of a wonderful friendship.

please watch lots of maru videos...  he is not a singapura - he is just a really adorable, funny cat from japan.

I love Maur chan.

There's another funny Japanese cat on Youtube called Kagoneko. (Basket Cat) Have you seen him?

Norachan, 2Cats4Me, DesiKat,

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I adore Maru Chan, such an adorable adorable cat :D

I have been kitty proofing all weekend and excited to welcome him home tomorrow!

Also, I think I will call him Luca!

Ahhh the nerves!

What a sweetheart! The only thing I can warn you about is the incredible energy all kittens have, they are like the energizer bunny! They DO settle down, and one day you will wonder if they are ever up and moving! Please keep us posted on how you are doing and don't hesitate to ask us about anything cat related that is bothering you, just me alone has over 50 years of 'cat experience'! I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers, all the luck in the world with your precious little one!

What a doll! I had never heard of a singapura (all my cats have been rescues -- mostly just street kitties who got lucky -- so I don't know most breeds). But  just googled them and they're too cute!! I love their big eyes!

Good luck with your kitten! My advice is not to over think it too much. Unlike cage pets, cats have a way of letting you know what they need. For instance, I don't have to remember to sift the kitty boxes (even though it is habit by now), they let me know when it's time to sift. They're relatively simple in care, they just need stimulation and affection, which are usually very easy to give because they're so cute!

Di and Bob:

Thank you very much for your wise words - two weeks in and every word of it rings true! This little fella tires me out even before he is just getting warmed up!

PurrsNWhiskers:

Yes, I was actually quite smitten with their eyes when I first visited the breeder - they look even larger now that he is home! I think we are starting to get a good rapport going here, he already comes when called and is super demanding when he is hungry! Trying to keep up with him but he is an active little bugger!

Norachan, Mservant:

Again, thanks for the kind words! He actually made himself right at home the first day he came - friendly with people, no litter box accidents, biting, scratching or getting into troublesome spaces. Either I am really lucky or he is saving the big one for some time in the future!

Here are some photos I snapped this morning 16 weeks :)

Gimme food!

What are you looking at?

Cute and I know it

He's lovely. Those eyes! How could anyone resist them. No wonder he's got you wrapped around his little paw already.
