My sweet cat Missy is due any day now. I believe she lost her plug yesterday evening but I'm kind of confused on what to watch for. She had a dime sized amount of discharge that is brown in color. Could that be it? She is doing a lot of digging in her nesting box but doesnt stay in there but a few minutes at a time.

This is Missy

And here is Dad. As you can see he has become best friends with my dog. Lol

He is a scottish fold or part scottish fold. Im not sure if having the ears makes the breed or they have to look a certain way.

Thank You! I have read these already and appreciate them being in one spot for easy access. :) I adopted her, Dad, and another female after my neighbor passed away. She came to me already pregnant and Dad has already made his trip to the vet. The other female ,Baby kitty, was supposed to join him but she gave birth to one tiny kitten the day before. I have a thread about the baby already. I thought I would start one with Missy while I'm waiting for her delivery.:wavey:

No problem! Good luck with everything, it should be very soon now.  Keep updated on how it all goes and if you have any questions during or after the delivery!

Its nearing with every hour.   Its quite common they dont take and use the nest before its time, they dont want it to become smelly before its necessary.   They want to avoid predators so long they can avoid it.

Good luck!

Need advice! Had to take Missy to have an emergency c section this morning. Vet said she was just too small to deliver. Out of three one survived. When everything was over they brought us back and the vet assistant told us that they would keep her and baby overnight but they wanted me to stay and talk to her to try and get her awake. It took forever for her to wake. Well the vet came in and says they are going ahead and send her home with me which kind of freaked me out. Now this is not my regular vet. My vet refers after hours emergencies to a 24 hour hospital 45 min away. So I thought it best to take her to this one since it was only a 20 minute drive. He told me to put her in a dark room with a heater and when the baby starts crying to try and get it to latch on. So I get her all settled and leave her be to rest. The baby starts crying and I go in to let it feed. The baby starts crying and missy tries to get up and is thrashing and falling. She is still in this awful sedation stupor. Well I take the baby out and go back in, get her settled and calm. Same thing happens again. Baby crying very loudly now, so I go in and try again. Again she is hurting herself trying to get up even with me gently holding her down and cooing to her. My question is how long does the sedation last and how long can the baby safely go without eating?

How is it, you do have gears from your other cats?  Begin to supplement the kitten in such case...   and now you know how.

Re mom, wrap her up in a thick towel, so she wont trash...

Im deeply sorry you are going this similiar, again.

Thank you. It has been a sad couple of weeks around here. Missy was spayed at the same time. I'm relieved because I just can't go through this again.

It sounds as though she was heavily sedated. It takes awhile for it to wear off. Poor Missy. I am so sorry for your losses. I hope the baby is feeding well for you. Hopefully she will latch on to Missy as soon as Missy feels better. I'm so sorry you've had to go through so much with your cats lately. Please keep us posted regarding Missy and the new baby. Rooting hard for both of them!

Okay baby fed. Ate like a champ! 3.7 ounces and man how wonderful to see that number after what I went through with Marlowe! Loved and cooed Missy for a while and she seems better.

That is one pecious little kit.
Very good to hear milk has been taken and that Missy seems better than she was.  This must have been a really hard time for all of you.  Make sure her kitten cozy warm and regular feeds until she is through that sedation and able to start caring for her little one herself.  Is she able to lay with her kitten or might her sedation mean she wouldn't be aware enough of her little one being there?

She's not aware enough. I have let her sniff and snuggle to her face but she'sjust too out of it. Will keep up the feeding til mom is better. I just hope she accepts it. Im not sure how cats do with there young if they don't actually go through the birthing process. Keep us in your thoughts because we need a
little good luck.

I have nothing to add at this time to the excellent advice already given, but I wanted to echo I am very sorry you are going through this and I hope Missy will feel lots better soon.  Glad to hear the kitten is doing as well as can be expected though!!
