Can anyone name some LID, grain free cat foods that do not contain peas?

It is possible my cat is allergic. Natural Balance and Instinct LID both have peas.

Hounds and Gatos doesn't contain peas.  They don't advertise themselves as Limited Ingredient but they are.  They are actually one of the most limited ingredient commercial foods and they have several different proteins.  They have a very limited store distribution which means having to order online.  I have only tried the lamb and my picky eaters like it.  I have seen negative reviews about kitties not caring for the chicken.  http://houndgatos.com/

Interesting. I had the opposite finding here...my girl took easily to the chicken flavor but gave me a crazy look when I served the lamb. Did the sniff/bury/cry thing until she gave in and tried it. Then she ate the entire portion. But still seemed to enjoy the chicken better overall.

Kitties certainly have different taste and their tastes change over time.  That's why I usually don't mention it but the Hounds and Gatos is so darned hard to find in stores, most people have to order it online and often that means buying a whole case.  I know that's how I buy it.

http://www.itsapetslife.com/category.cfm/pets/Cat-Food/brand/HOUND AND GATOS  is one place where you can order single cans if you don't have a store close that sells it.  Of course it's a little higher that way and they do give 10 percent discounts on case sales.

In addition to Hound & Gatos, EVO is another good one without any unnecessary fruits or veggies. It does have carrageenen though. Ziwipeak is another option, expensive though.

None of Addiction flavors have enough protein. Check catinfo.org for percentage of calories from protein, fat, and carbs. I only found 10 canned foods that are at least 50% of calories from high quality protein and less than 10% calories from carbs. I am going find a homemade diet that is low in iodine for my hyper-t 16-year old calico.

I picked up some Wild calling today- They have buffalo! I'm pretty sure that is a novel ingredient to my allergy cat and it doesn't have peas. Expensive though.

I also picked up some Weruva lamb burgini. It looks pretty limited. I got a small bag of nature's variety rabbit but it does have peas. He's never had rabbit so it should be a novel protein.

I was hoping to find venison, but I will probably have to special order it.

If none of these work than it isn't food allergies.

I was wondering if you had gotten the buffalo and if your cat liked it? I get Wild Calling canned food but my cat will only eat the turkey, she would not touch the chicken or the rabbit. She will only eat turkey in any brand of food. I was thinking of trying the buffalo.

Natural Balance has a product called Ultra Premium Cat Food, which has no peas, but does contain chicken, chicken meal, salmon meal, duck, duck meal, lamb meal and rice. So if you know it's not any of those proteins (or grain), you could give that a try.

A raw piece of meat? Peas neither good or bad. Neutral.

NV Instinct non-LID, also has no peas.

I am looking for canned food that has no peas, fish or fish oils. All the foods that don't contain those Peaches will not touch. We just went through a few weeks going back and fourth to see the vet. She suffers from IBD and constipation. When she has a flare she stops eating wet food and starts having allergic reactions to something in it. She has been eating Wellness Turkey for 2 years and now she is allergic to something in it.  The Wild Calling gives her gas and she races around crying in pain so we had to stop that one.

I have been in tears and have been going daily to Petsmart and Petco buying all kinds of food. I am now broke between the vet visits and all the food I have been trying to get her to eat. I broke down and gave her food with fish in it just to get her to eat something. She now has a swollen eye that she keeps rubbing and constantly scratching herself. She still eats her dry but she needs the canned for her constipation issues. The vet has even run out of ideas and she went out on the floor of Petsmart to help me find something Peaches could have.

I love her but it has almost gotten to the point I might have to rehome her. I suffer from several illnesses and the stress causes me to have flare ups and then bedridden.

Are you willing to feed by-products? If so, try Friskies classic pate Mixed Grill and Country Style Dinner, and Fancy Feast Turkey & Giblets (and I think there are other fish- & pea-free flavors of Fancy Feast but can't think of them right now). I think Sheba chicken flavor is also fish-free but do check first. Most cats prefer the cheaper foods  so maybe she'll eat those.

That's the problem I have tried every canned food product that is made without fish, peas or soy. She will eat the mixed grill for a couple days and then she won't eat it anymore. The Fancy Feast Turkey we have tried several times in 4 years but that one causes constipation, we end up at the vet getting an enema. Sheba she won't even try. She likes pate foods and won't try anything that is chunks of meat. The other problem is she does not like duck, chicken, venison, or lamb. I just don't know what to do anymore. She is actually getting worse as she gets older and she is only 6 years old.

Thanks for the suggestions though. I might just have to do the Fancy Feast and have the enemas done. I guess it's better then dealing with the swollen eyes and scratching. I fed her only a little Friskies poultry last night and her eyes is swollen shut from that one small meal with fish in it.

Have you looked outside the pet superstores? Look in places like independent boutique pet stores, pet grooming salons, or high end pet stores. There's a few places in my signature that allow purchases of single cans so you can try out the food. Failing that, have you considered homemade raw or cooked diets? Then you have control over the ingredients.

I would not settle for the enemas. Too many enemas can make the cat depend on them to eliminate at all.

My favorite wet food choice and my cat's right now is Nutro Natural Choice Chicken, Turkey, and Duck varieties. They are all potatoes, peas, and veggies free. Neither the chicken nor the turkey contain carrageenan, but the duck does. One canned food with carrageenan in it does not bother me, though. Each variety is a single animal protein source. They have sliced and pâté versions of the chicken and turkey.

All that said, I would suggest trying the Nutro Natural Choice Soft Loaf Duck formula. You can get a 24 pack of it on Chewy.com. Perhaps the Natural Choice Soft Loaf Turkey (again available on Chewy) formula might also be worth a try for her. Look into the big pet stores near you to see if you can get single cans first. I will warn you that the duck has carrageenan in it but right now I'd say that is the least of your concerns.

Down side: they only come in 3oz cans. Up side, my cat adores them and licks the plate clean. Of course all cats are different, but it is worth a try.

P.S. sadly they do contain fish oil, so I would definitely give Hound and Gatos a try first.

I feed my IBD cat canned Nature's Variety Instinct. I also rotate flavors on a per-can basis.

He's also on 1 cc Prednislone and a probiotic.

Thanks but she was on Nature's Variety Instinct when we found out she is allergic to peas. That's the food that has sent us to the vet several times in the last few weeks. She is scratching and cleaning herself so much that now we are dealing with her throwing up hairballs several times a week......Ugg. On the plus side the food that I gave her with fish and made her eye swell shut is open today and looks much better.

I'm heading to some stores today and look for something else to try and also just keep repeating foods to see if she would eat any of it. I have been to all the little pet food stores in our area and have bought can after can of different foods. That is how I found the Wild Calling food and some others. I have also tried raw and she would not have anything to do with it and neither would my feral cats so that went in the garbage. I would not be able to afford that anyway.  Again thanks for all the suggestions.

Are there any patterns to what she likes besides turkey? Consider textures, gravy, smells. Turkey is a rather mild tasting protein, so I would not place bets on something like venison. Pheasant is very mild. Also sometimes cats will reject a certain food, but then it's back on the acceptable list sometime later.

I also have a cat with IBD and she is addicted to dry. I coax her to eat some wet first (she is VERY fussy) and then have to give her dry food. Otherwise she will refuse to eat until she is throwing up from excess stomach acid and we are on another medical spiral. Another cat is allergic to fish as well and I've had to take a magnifying glass to the store to check all food since fish or fish oil seems to be in most food. I am so tired of them not eating their food and wasting the very expensive foods I try. Food they gobble one week is rejected the next. They once loved the chicken I prepared for them, but now won't touch it. I keep labels of food they have seemed to like and upon inspection, peas seem to be in most. With 4 cats it can be a nightmare. I'm sorry I can't really offer a solution (I am still trying myself) but I thought I would commiserate with you! Good luck!
