A slow cooker is also called a crock-pot, you can find them in any department store like K-Mart or Target or Wal-Mart or on-line at Amazon.

To keep almost any vegetable or herb fresh for more than a day or two: wash throroughly, dry with paper towels or in a  salad spinner, wrap in paper towels and then put the whole package in a zip lock bag and then in the fridge. Be sure that none of the plastic touches the vegetable, that part will turn black and mushy. I have done this even with butter lettuce from my garden which is really delicate. Since I live alone with my cats and they don't eat veggies and I can't eat the whole thing at one time I just rewrap what's left in the same now damp paper towels for another day. It will keep for a week or so

I usually fry ground beef with onions, garlic and spices. Then add in a can or two of pasta sauce and let cook for 20-30 minutes. I've made it from scratch too. Same base, but instead of canned sauce I boil tomatoes  (just for a minute to loosen the skin), peel the skin off, cut them in half, scoop out the seeds, chop them and then cook them in the sauce until they are all broken down. I love it made like that and I think I am going to do that this week. I might just buy a can of diced tomatoes instead though, it seems much easier.
Thanks Mrs.B. In the end we decided that the sauce in the jar was just as good if not better so I'm going back to that. I make it pretty similar to yours. My nine year old daughter said the the sauce made from scratch tasted " like it does in a restaurant but she likes home made better". From a jar is quicker and easier. ;)

I ended up using jar sauce for my dinner today too. We are getting over a nasty stomach bug and it was just easier to open a jar and pour it in a pot with some meatballs.

Baked haddock tonight. I'm thinking of doing a few pierogi with the fish. We have some pierogi with jalapeno that are good.....from a box (I don't make them from scratch). And a bit of salad to go with.

Pierogi are a dumpling and are of Polish origin.  They can be filled with anything but traditionally are filled with potatoes, some type of meat mixture or cheese.  They are traditionally first boiled and then either baked or fried.  Haddock is just a type of fish.

They are one of the most awesome amazing delicious foods ever!!  And we are having them tomorrow since I forgot to take them out today.
I like the cabbage filled ones but potato is my 2nd favorite.

Tonight for us it'll be a tuna casserole.  Not too exciting but tasty.  I think I'm going to cheat and use cream of mushroom soup as a base for it.

I never would have thought to add caramelized onions to a creamy white sauce, only added them to a broth based sauce but I'm pretty interested in the idea of doing that
