We all know about silver linings, how sometimes things that seem bad at first turn out to be good, or at least something positive comes out of the experience. You know you might be glad your first husband took off one day, if he hadn't you'd never married the love of your life. Or how some small delay averted disaster, that sort of thing.
I've been thinking lately and it seems that good things usually have a bad side, too. Take for example, physical beauty, for sure it gives advantages in life, and opens doors. We generally treat very good-looking people better, and we are nicer to them, they tend to get the jobs. But look what happens when the physical looks fade, for example, we've all seen the celebrities who go to great lengths to try to remain looking beautiful, it can be really sad.
Beautiful people have always been told how wonderful they are, so if that's all they have, they lose everything when they lose their looks. Seems to me better to be a pretty normal looking person who has to rely on all his/her resources to get anywhere.
What about having money? There are negatives there, too. Do your friends like you for your money? There's no way to know. Are your kids safe or is some nut going to kidnap one for ransom? Better get a good alarm system to protect all your expensive stuff, too.
Today's QOTD is, what do you think about this? Have you found it to be true?
