I honestly don't know. I'd ask the vet! The point isn't second-guessing, it's learning. Is the nutrients in the IV solution enough to prevent fatty liver? Or at some point will he need to be syringe fed? :dk:
I totally agree with this and definitely plan on getting one as well as reaching out to the pet communicator.Oh, I forgot! Acupuncture worked wonders for Tobie, even at the end of her life. She really perked up and was more alert and purred more afterwards. It's just one more thing to add to your holistic arsenal if you need it.
Would these supplements be suitable for my cat who had bladder stones? Ideally it would be great if I could feed all four of my cats the same thing at the same time.I'm so sorry for this news.Let's all just hope he handles the chemo well. Most cats tolerate the leukeran really well.
A high protein, low carb diet will be best.Do be aware when seeing the specialist that anti-oxidants interfere with chemo, so holistic support can include acupuncture, diet, and supplements, but not antioxidants.
Egg yolks and sardines, if he likes them, are excellent sources of vitamin D, which is being used in pets and people as an anti-cancer agent. The connection between vit D and the immune system is a hot topic of investigation, but one thing is clear: vitamin D is far more than just a component of calcium uptake.
I give Lazlo 10mg of ubiquinol daily (the active form of CoQ10). You can buy a bottle that dispenses the right amount at Mercola.
He also gets 250mg of Jarrow Formulas lactoferrin, and 10 billion CFU of probiotics. I use human probiotics, the Natural Factors double strength acidophilus+bifidus with goat milk. Immune system health starts in the gut, that is becoming well documented.
Finally, he gets 500mg of omega3s via Pure Alaska Omega salmon oil. I use that one because it is not heat extracted. The omega3s are anti-inflammatory.
You might want to wait to discuss these with the oncologist, and if these are ok, slowly introduce one at a time.
Thank you for your kind words. I'd do anything for my babies! I just have to know when I'm being selfish. Right now he is nuzzling in my lap making it hard to type. His purring is like him saying - I'm still me! And he has retuned to his usual frisky self on the diet change alone. I'm hopeful!Just said a prayer for you and your baby. You are a great mom.
Am definitely doing this! I'm writing up my list for next Friday. I hope he is open to holistic ideas as well as chemo. I think an approach using both could be most successful.I am so sorry it wasn't better news, but at least you do HAVE a diagnosis and can now begin a treatment plan. AND, you've got people here who have gone thru something similar who I see have already given you great talking points for the oncologist.
I LOVE the idea of having a communicator talk to your furbaby and let him know what is happening. ( I think LDG did that just to make sure Lazlo wanted to go thru with the treatment. )
