I am brand new to this site and happened upon it while searching for info on cat pregnancy. I have very minimal experience with pregnant cats and I recently took in a female stray and her two 12 week old kittens. I feel pretty certain that she is pregnant but looking for confirmation on that and wondering when I can expect her new kittens to be born. The first night I had her which was three days ago now her stomach was large out to the sides and sagging a bit. The next day her breasts had swollen particularly in the back inbetween her hind legs and she really doesn't appear pregnant besides her sagging belly. Today she has been very active running here and there, jumping on and off of everything and being very vocal. I am unable to feel any movement in her abdomen but could feel something far back on her right side, it felt probably three inches in length. I have never palpitated a cat before but do have experience with rabbits although I'm not sure how similar they are. Additional info would be that the kittens she has with her do not nurse so her enlarged breast shouldn't be from them. Any info at all would be helpful.

Difficult to say. Several scenarios are possible although some more probable than the others.  Including she isnt pregnant. Having big belly because of worms (which she surely has), and sagging belly can happen. Common enough with males, but happens with females too...

But an unspayed, outside going female, count on her pregnant.  She can even could had the new litter already, but immediately lost it at the birth or days after... There is more than enough with time for it in 12 weeks.

The only way to know is if a vet looks at the, palpates, making also ultra sound.  (and doing vet check up, preferably including tests, deworming, of her and her half grown kittens).

Or at least, some knowleable person used with pregnants and palpating. Say, if you have some rescue shelter nearby.  Or a helpsome breeder.

But I would recommend simply your vet, as you should visit this vet anyway.

Btw, the running and meowing may have been some precontractions.

Tx for caring!

Good luck!

Another possibility is she has some constipation.  Some cats try to get their bowels going by such intensive, looking almost desperate, running around.

Please keep reporting and asking!

Good luck!
