So my kitten, Ares, has an upper respiratory infection - and a bad one at that. My vet first gave me Biomox (which is essentially amoxicillin) and it did nothing. We only had two days left of the meds and he was just going downhill. I brought him back to the vet this morning, as he had started sneezing blood (Which I'm pretty sure was just a bloody nose from sneezing so much) but I still wanted to be safe and get him a new medication. The vet, telling me the URI had developed into a much more severe case, gave me the antibiotic azithromycin. He also told me that the rest of the kittens Ares had been living with at the shelter have gotten URI as well - great.
So he's on his new meds, I'm keeping him as comfortable as possible and taking rips to the bathroom to start the shower up and clear out his congestion. He was eating fairly well before, which was a relief, but as of this morning has barely eaten anything. I tried mixing the A/D cat food with some goats milk, but he only gave it a few licks and moved on. Tried some raw salmon, and he also ate just a few bites. What are some foods that are good for sick kittens to get them to eat? Or some way to encourage a cat to eat his own food?
Thanks in advance, I just want my little boy to be as healthy and comfortable as possible until this URI runs its course.
