We found a new cat, I don't know anything about it other than she is a female. She had been hit by a car. She has a hurt back leg but is otherwise ok. She will not use the litter box. She uses my clothes. I made he a litter box that was close to ground to prevent pain when entering. But it has not helped she acts like she don't know what it is. Please any advice would be appreciated.

Has she been to the vet?  You need to be sure to get her to the vet to rule out any nerve damage and internal damage.  Are you using unscented litter?

Could you give us a little more information?  Such as how long ago she was hit, if she has seen the vet and what you've tried so far (what kind of box, litter, etc).  I think that would help us, help you.

It's possible she has internal bleeding.  Please bring her to see a vet today.  Poor little thing, thank you for rescuing her!

Unfortunately she has not been to the vet. I am a stay at home mom and don't have the money to take her. It's been a week since she was hit I am trying to do the best I can for her. She has no blood in her urine or feces. She was found at Dairy Queen where someone just set her out. My friend brought her to me. I have tryed to find her help, but the animal shelter told me they would just put her down. But she does not act sore I can pet her. The only thing is her back leg I think it's broke, I put a stint on it. I think she will make it though she has the heart of a fighter that's y I can't let them put her down. I am very torn and hope I am making the right decision.

Hun.... bless your heart for taking her in. But, she must see a vet. I am so sorry that you cannot afford the vet but that is the right thing to do for this kitty. This is not something you can treat at home and if there is some sort of infection starting in that leg it could very well be life threatening. You may just have to call the vet and drop her off there and relinquish her to them. Hopefully they will be able to save her and find her a home. Not all vets will just put a stray kitty down who has been through what she has. She is a fighter. There is a chance that they will do surgery on her leg and find her a home. She sounds very sweet and deserves a chance. It is not in her best interest for you to be treating her without vet intervention. I am sorry. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

I called a couple vets when I first got her and they told me they don't do that and take her to the animal shelter. But do u think if I just took her up there and dropped her off they would take. I know she need to go. That's y I feel so bad about it. I not even really sure if age got hit. She may have abused and someone did it to her. Cause it's strange it's just her leg. And car I would think would do more damage. Someone gave me some kitty antibiotics and I've been giving them to her. But u do know she needs to go to the vet. So u think I should just take her up there and drop her off?

How do you know she hasn't been like this for a long ime? Does she act like she is in pain? Is her leg deformed, or just maybe sprained? If I took her to the vets I would definitely tell them you don't want her put down if she is not terminal. I've had cats hurt a lot worse then that (feral) and they survived, so don't give up hope. None of us want her to suffer though. As for the litterbox issues, she must not like the litter, I would change the kind you have in there and gently set her in it several times. If she continues to go on your clothes, confine her to a small room like a bathroom until she is using the litterbox properly.

Thanks everyone I really don't know how long it's been I just know over a week because I've had her that long. But she just drags that leg behind her it looks normal other than a small wound on it That I have be putting antibiotic ointment on and dress it 4 times a day. But it is getting better. But she don't act like she is in pain almost like she can't even fell it. But she can move it some. But hopefully the humane society can help. I would gladly take her back if they got her help. Because she is very sweet. And I've grow attracted.

:cross: :cross: for the Humane Society to help you and this sweet kitty. Your very kind hearted to be helping her this way and I am sure you have become quite attached. I do hope it all works out for both of your sakes. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:

Good news I found a women who runs a shelter out of her home called TLC animal shelter. She help me pay to take her to the vet. They said she has nerve damage. It may get better on its own if not they will have to amputate it. But she can already move it alittle better. They dewormer her and defleed her. They said the wound is looking really good to just keep doing what I'm doing. It's just a waiting game. But I have faith she is going to make a full recover. Thank all of u for ur advice . I also got some different litter and she is using it some. Still has some accidents but I think it's because she don't feel good and don't want to get up and go. But I think as she gets better so will the litter box training.

Now that we r sure she is gonna make I want to give her a name. I have considered lucky or queen for Dairy Queen cause that's where she was found. But I'm sure, any suggestions?
