We are a family of cat lovers in the Chicago suburbs. We recently lost our beloved cat, Jax (domestic shorthair), and are missing the presence of a feline friend in our home. My husband and I have two daughters, ages 8 and 5.
My older daughter, was diagnosed with a cat allergy at age 4, but she lived quite successfully her whole life with Jax. Her allergist feels that she will be fine with a new kitten entering the home, and we have a deposit down on a one week old Siberian kitten, in the hopes that it will be less allergenic than a shelter cat. Her reactions are only topical -- sneezing, itchy eyes etc. She does not exhibit wheezing or breathing issues!
We are so excited to get our new kitten in a few months, and I'm sure we will have lots of questions about taking care of her. It's been 14 years since I've had a kitten! I was very glad to find these forums.
No pics yet of the new baby, but I will post as soon as I get some from the breeder!
