I really didn't want to put this in the Books thread because it's not about what we're reading, more like authors who write series. What are some of your favorite authors and what series do they write? I'm not talking about a write who's writing in a genre, but not a series of books (Stephen King, for example, although I love the guy). I'm always on the hunt for a new-to-me series. What are your favorites?

Here are some of mine:
Diana Gabaldon - Outlander series
Karen White - Tradd Street series
Elly Griffiths - the Ruth Galloway series
Clive Cussler - Dirk Pitt series, Oregon Files, Issac Bell series, Fargo Adventures
James Patterson - Women's Murder Club series
Preston/Child - the Pendergast series. Nora Kelly series
Lincoln Child - Jeremy Logan series
Jonathon Kellerman - Alex Delaware series
John Sanford - Lucas Davenport series, Virgil Flowers series
JD Robb - the In Death series (Eve Dallas)
Heather Graham - the Krewe of Hunter series
Suzanne Brockmann - the Troubleshooter series
Patricia Cornwell - the Kay Scarpetta series
Linda Castillo - the Kate Burkholder series

And there are so many more! So many books, so little time.
What are some of your favorite book series?

I've mentioned this one before, but my all-time favourite series was written by Phillipa Carr, aka Victoria Holt, Jean Plaidy, and other names. The Daughters of England series are historical novels that begin in the 1500's and continue on until WWII, with each subsequent book telling the story of the daughter from the previous book.

Looking through my library acct history, these are some series I've read and enjoyed. A lot of them are YA books, but still enjoyable. Most of them, I think, are complete now.

Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)

Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella

Cedar Cove Series by Debbie Macomber

One of Us Is Lying Series by Karen M. McManus

Ten Beach Road Series by Wendy Wax

Girls with Sharp Sticks Series by Suzanne Young

This sounds amazing and someday I have to read it!

Adding to what's been already been said, the unfinished Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, and on a more humorous note, I enjoyed the (also unfinished forever due to author death) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams.

The only two I can think of right now are Kelly Armstrong's Otherworld series and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Series.
The Otherworld series is modern day paranormal following several different characters consisting of 13 books. If you love books about werewolves, vampires, witches and so on...these are great. And The Stephanie Plum series follows an average yet spunky and a bit awkward? girl who when down on her luck decides to become a bounty hunter to make money. These books make me literally LOL.

I'm not a big reader. Reading usually sparks a migraine or at the very least a bad headache. But, I have always loved Douglas Adams (R.I.P.)

Dorothy L, seconded!
Dick Francis
Ed McBain

But then both Dickens and Tolstoy, for example, wrote serially, so not sure of the cutoff point in the arc of time….

Louise Penny-Inspector Gamache series
Jacqueline Winspear-Maisie Dobbs series
CJ Sansom-Matthew Shardlake series

These are all mysteries. Gamache is modern, Dobbs begins in WWI and moves forward, and Shardlake is Tudor.

John Jakes - The Kent Family Chronicles, which I have read twice.
Jean Auel - The Clan of the Cave Bear series
I know there are more but they escape me at the moment. I think Jakes is my favorite of all. I love reading historical fiction.
