Worms in my cats water

Hi! A few months back I bought a water fountain for my cats, and it’s been great! Until now…
I went to clean it and inside it had probably around 30-50 of these little guys

i imagine this is less than ideal for my cats to be consuming and I’m really stressed out because I just got home with a $260 vet bill less than a week ago. If anyone has any idea on what these are please let me know. (And yes they are moving)

Is this the first time you have cleaned this water fountain since you got it? Where is it located - inside or outside? A whole lot more information would be needed to make some suggestions.

At first blush, completely clean/sanitize the water fountain, and perhaps treat your cats with a broad-based de-wormer. Short of that advice, we would need more information to determine other potential variables.
