Hi - Have thought my just 16 yr male was hyperthyroid, but testing hasn't confirmed after 2 yrs. What has happened (now so locked in after getting up from nap) is a gagging cough or coughing gag, and my vet and I have had issues re stuff so I may not get Ecco back there soon. He's not on any meds, but eats all day long, no wt loss, but then he eats a lot! Just don't know what to do about this gag/cough every time he wakes up... any ideas? Thanks!

It is hard to say what the cough/gagging is, but since it is happening right after he gets up from a nap it could be some sort of sinus drainage, like humans can get - but that doesn't mean to take it lightly. At Ecco's age, he needs to have a vet that you can count on for looking into things like this when they arise.

As said above, you need to take him to a vet for a checkup.

It's not for lack of 'bothering', but things are a bit strange here - closed shop type of mentality and too much 'sharing'... long story, but will keep trying.
