There was a guy that I've met online. very nice guy, very considerate and knew what to say, paid for everything, and we went out twice.. then he invited me to his house.

Big mistake on his part.

He's a hoarder. garbage, paper, boxes, items and junk of all sorts.. piled close to the ceiling. stairs were dangerously covered with junk. Ever see the show "Hoarders- Buried Alive"? that's him. it was just nasty.

Our date at the town fair should've been a tip-off when he bought 20 jars of pickles, 20+ sham-wow's, arm full of CD's without looking at them and other items in bulk.. yea, that should've tipped me off. I had wondered why he brought an empty backpack along with him in the first place!

I felt bad since he's a very nice, handsome guy and I liked him, a lot.. but I could not subject myself with this disorder of his. It's dangerous for both me and him, and I know, hoarders rarely ever get 'cured'. if he cleaned up, he'd most likely go back to his ways.

I only ever went on 2 dates before my DH and neither should count as "dates!"  The first my friend set me up with her Uncle.  I was in high school at the time.  It's not as weird as it sounds because he was only 2 years older than us.  Her Grandmother's late in life; surprise baby!  All the date consisted of was me going to this campground on a Sunday afternoon with him, my friend and her brother.  I spent most of the time walking around with my friend.  Then he drove me home alone.  He drove fast and was proud of it.  I tried to think it was cool.  LOL

The other date was with my BFF's ex-boyfriend from high school and we were in our first year of college.  He'd just gotten home from basic training and tech school; so we went out to dinner and a movie.  At this point I was completely crushing on my now DH.  But this guy..hmm..how to describe him...he has the manners of every mother of a daughter's dream.  Opens doors, volunteers to help clean up and do dishes after get togethers...etc.  Our senior year another friend and I didn't have dates to homecoming; we went to dinner before it in a group that included my him and my BFF.  Us girls went to the restroom after we ate and when we came out he was standing up and said "lets go!"  It turned out he had paid for all our dinners.  He said that it was our senior homecoming and we shouldn't be buying our own dinner.  Needless to say my mother just loved this guy.
Anyway; after our "date" we went to DH's house to hang out with our friends.  I think he had already picked up on my interest in DH before that; but he really encouraged me to go after DH (DH is sooo quiet, esp when it comes to that stuff).  The rest is history.  Unfortunately I've lost touch with him over the years.

That really qualifies as a strange date! If it had been Halloween it might have been somewhat understandable, but Mardi Gras?

My strangest date was when I was in my late 20's and agreed to go out with a man who was about 15 years older. I lived downtown so he came by and we walked to a movie theater to see a film he had picked. It was an "art" film about lesbian sex, and it was extremely graphic, in fact it was porn. I'm not easily rattled but it creeped me out that someone would pick that for a first date.

He came by my apartment a couple of days later, telling me he had a cottage out in the woods somewhere, it's very isolated, he said, lets go there. I saw all these red flags flying around in my head after he said that... I was REALLY creeped. I told him I was getting back together with an old boyfriend (total lie) and he bought it and left me alone. Yikes.

OK folks, I will come clean.  This was just a fake-out.  I chose four emoticons that would make you imagine all kinds of strange situations..........The actual strangest date was in the eighth grade when a 9th grade friend asked me to ask his girlfriend - another 8th grader to our class banquet.  We had a good time.  There were 14 in our class that year.

Over the river and through the woods...
I was wracking my brain trying to figure out my strangest date. There aren't many to chose from because I didn't "date" much, with me it was usually hanging out, becoming friends then "oh, I guess we're going out now huh?". But, here's the story of the strangest "kind of date" I ever had.

When I was in college, I developed a HUGE crush on a friend, so when he asked on a Friday night if I wanted to go treasure hunting on Saturday I was like a happy puppy and said SURE! He warned me to wear old clothes and jeans and I didn't think to ask why....

Once we got in the car and were on the road on Saturday, he tells me he left his student loan check laying in the common area and apparently it was thrown away, so we were going to the land fill to try to find it.
Yeah, I still wasn't real concerned...I mean, how bad can a LAND FILL be, right? (Keep in mind, I was 19 and had never seen a land fill in my life). Yeah, well, we got there and there were miles of piles of garbage, MOUNTAINS of garbage!

He did talk to the people in charge and they directed us to the smallest mountain that came from our college the last few days. No check but we did find the pizza boxes (with our names) that we ordered a few days ago so we were in the right area. The thing that got me was, after 4 hours in the hot September sun, digging through garbage, I finally asked him if they couldn't just reissue the check. He said "yes, but this sounded easier".
The good thing his he did take me out to dinner later that night, after I went home and disinfected!
