My 15th birthday was my best. DH planned to propose to me on my birthday (my 20th) but he couldn't wait and just did it the day he got the ring. So I'm going with 15th. My Mom and Step-dad had a BBQ on Sunday after church and my whole youth group came plus a few others. There had to be at least 15 teenagers there. We hung out, ate, watched movies, played football, volleyball and who knows what else. It was just a fun day.
My 19th was pretty awesome too. One of the guys I'd grown up with in church is a DJ. He was just getting started at that time and as my present he came and DJ'd my party. Being in college I didn't feel short on friends and I had worked up the nerve to invite the guy I had a huge crush on.
(DH of course!) I pretty much stalked him the whole evening. We got talking a lot more after that but it was still me chasing him. He didn't ask me out for another 2 months when this girl called us out on it. But still that birthday was great. lol
The first "best" birthday that I remember was my 5th birthday. My birthday is on Halloween and a tiny all black kitten followed some trick-or-treaters up our short dead-end street to our house. My dad went around the neighborhood and asked if this kitten had a home. Turns out he did...with me! That was my Charlie and he started my love affair with cats!
My best birthday has to of been my 21st, I went out to my favourite Chinese restaurant with my closest friends and family we had a right good time, and we hit the town afterwards everyone had so much fun it was great!
For my 25th birthday, not only did Rick make my layered birthday cake from scratch, but he also decorated it. It was so pretty!
And then for my 40th birthday, he threw a big surprise party for me. He rented an old union hall, decorated it, and invited a ton of people. I knew absolutely nothing about it until we drove up to the building....then I figured it out. Until then I just thought we were going to dinner. Well, we were, I guess. And what a party! My mom and MIL made all the food and everything. I was speechless; Rick said it was the only time that I was literally speechless.
We all had a great time.
I'm 57 years old now, so I have 3 years before I hit 60. Rick already warned me to expect.........anything! (I had forbidden him to do anything for my 50th birthday because I didn't want to go there. 50? No.)
One of my most memorable birthdays was my 21st, Feb 17 2008.
I had been married 12 days before that, and we had postponed our cruise until the 16th so I could drink on it :lol3: At 12:15am on the 17th, I went to the cruise ship casino, played some nickel slots, won $40 (then played it all too), got a Screwdriver, and went to bed. When I woke up later on, we had ported in Nassau, Bahamas, so I spent the day traveling around the island in the Caribbean. We went to Atlantis while there.
Can't say many other birthdays have been spent on a honeymoon, on a cruise ship in the Caribbean!
I remember your 50th Susan, it looked so wonderful!
Aw... love the stories!
Mine would have to be my 20th. I was in Costa Rica for college and didn't even remember it was my birthday - my birthday is when it's cold and snowy, not hot and sunny! So the surprise party planned by my boyfriend was REALLY a surprise, given I didn't even remember it was my birthday. :lol3:
