Water Temperature

I have a 7 month old kitten who I'm trying to switch to water. I have the water in a plastic container but I was wondering, does the temperature matter? I usually give him in the middle temp only because I thought cold water would be too cold for him.

As long as it’s not hot I don’t think it matters? I use gal water from the store (can’t use my tap water) for my cats, and those jugs sit at room temp.

Hi! Can you obtain a stainless, or ceramic bowl (where the glaze is uncracked), and provide fresh clean water in a cleaned -daily bowl?
There are cats who LOVE having an ice cube in their water, you may find that your kitty likes cooler water better.

I had the water first in a stainless steel bowl but he wasn't really drinking from it so I switched. I'll try the ice cube though and see how he reacts to it. Thank you!

Ironically, while three of my cats love playing in the water, they are TERRIFIED of ice cubes. And the other two think ice cubes are funny things that float in the water.

I was wondering about this too. I just give my cats water straight from the tap, since there is a filter on it. But I wonder if they would like their water chilled in the fridge, the way I drink mine? Maybe I'll try it.

Mine HATE cold water. They smack it and make a huge mess. They're much happier with room-temperature tap water.

I have another question: how did you get your little one to drink? Mine will drink a little but not much.

If you can wet his muzzle so he starts licking his face, then he may start actually lapping at the water.

If your kitten eats mainly wet food, then it's fine if he doesn't drink all that much water. Hydration is one of the reasons wet food is so good for them.

I have a tea cup on the bathroom counter that they decided is theirs. We are on the third one as once in a while it gets knocked off. They also drink out of the dishes in the sink. They really like my tea mugs after I am done with them. If I have used it then its great for them. I suppose I could use reverse thinking and drink out of their water bowel.

Yeah that's why I'm giving him soft food but I think he's slowly learning.
