I have never bought this before. I plan on crushing one and mixing it in her food. So 3 nibs a day. I dont think it will get her addicted to dry since I'm mixing it with wet. Has anyones cat tried this?

I read on another thread that the stella & chews has lots of bone in it. Is that als9o true for this?

I can attest that Stella and Chewy does have a lot of bone in it, but to use it as a topper shouldn't be a problem. I feed one of my guys two meals per day of S & C, but to make up for that, I feed his third meal something else, plus I give him several pieces of 100% freeze dried plain chicken to try to offset the higher calcium in the S & C. Don't know if it's actually working, but he's pretty healthy and gets excellent exams and blood work at the Vet.

What is it you are trying to achieve by adding this to her food? (if you just add ONE nib, it looks to me like it's going to be like adding one piece of kibble) Maybe we can suggest something else if you are worried about the bone content., but with that tiny amount, I wouldn't worry.

I have a pill cutter that also crushes. I haven't idea how big the pieces are. She will not eat her canned food unless it has shredded chicken which doesn't always work so I need to try something else

Pure Bites are great to put on top of food: they make them with just plain freeze-dried chicken. I put those on one cat's food; she'd eat anything with it! The other cat's food gets Northwest Naturals, in either the chicken or turkey flavor. That's complete freeze-dried raw food and it only takes one small nibble (theirs are nibbles!!) to top a dish of food. Those also make great treats. The Northwest food is 10% bone so I don't give it to Ireland, who gets constipated from bone. I don't think that would put her over the top but, well, you just never know with cats! (Besides, she likes Pure Bites better.)

(I've also used Stella & Chewy's but Northwest Naturals has lower bone and they're more forthcoming about it so I've opted for them. Our cats do like S&C used as a topper, though.)

I just realized vital essentials also sale it as toppers so it is already crushed. I was mixing Miko but she mostly eats that when I mix it in her canned. Since Miko is so low in fat I am hoping she will like something else mixed in

So how long does an open bag last? Should I crush a bunch, put them in separate containers and freeze?

I think it says to use within 30 days or so, so yes, i'd do that if you haven't used it up within 30 days.

I did look up how to store a bag. Squeeze all the air out and put in a plastic, glass, or metal container with a secure lid.
