I have a George Foreman grill, and when I first got it I loved it. But I quickly grew tired of how difficult it was to clean after using. So for a few years it sat on my counter gathering dust and just taking up space. This is the one I have:
Not only is it hard to clean because you can't remove the plates, but it doesn't cook very well. The lid is split so the part of the food where it crosses between the lids, doesn't cook properly. Also the hinge doesn't really adjust to accommodate different thicknesses of food, so if the food isn't a certain thickness, the lid sits at an angle and doesn't cook. Add to that that the top part cooks hotter and faster than the bottom resulting in one side nearly burned and the other pale.
I was at Sears on Saturday looking for a fan and passed by the kitchen stuff. I saw a Hamilton Beach grill on sale and it was also scratch and save day. I scratched an additional 10% off of the sale price, so I bought it!
Here is my new grill! I absolutely love it. I can actually see me using it every day to make dinner because it's easy to clean: the plate removes and it's dishwasher safe and submersible in water! And the best part is I don't have to worry about grease dripping off the end and overflowing a plastic fat catcher tray!
I just cooked a steak on it and for the first time in I can't recall how long, I actually have a medium rare steak and it has actual grill marks on it! LOL
I'm giving my cleaning girl the George Foreman one. She's excited about that!!
