Hi,
My friend has a female cat and she do birth every year ( maybe 3 times a year i think im not sure ) i wanted to take one of her kitten this time although i have some questions :

1- is it cruel or bad taking her kittens?

2- should i take her kitten in the day they born? or i should wait until they open their eyes.

3- how hard is taking care of first day born kitten?
Thanks.

Hi! Here is much of the information you need to raise a kitten. I realize these aren't abandoned, but the info is still helpful. The articles aren't lengthy but have lots of good information.

The first thing is that a kitten shouldn't leave Mom for 12-16 weeks.

Welcome to TCS ramininlich. I am so glad that you have thought of consulting us. Please do not separate any kitties from their mom before they are at least 8 weeks old. They should actually stay with their mom until they are 12/16 weeks old. We would be happy to help you with all relevant information on the care of weaned kittens later on when the time comes.

PS. I wrote the above while Furballsmom was writing the above post for you and before seeing it.

Definitely do not take the kittens until they are at least 10 weeks old. They need to stay with their mom in order to nurse, but also to learn kitten manners, and for their development. It would be cruel for both the mom and the kittens to take them before they are ready.

Can you help your friend to spay her mom cat after this litter has weaned?
