Swapping food

My cat is now 5 and a half months old and we are still giving him the same hard cat food that he has used since the first time we got him a few months ago, is it time to swap his cat food? I apologize if it’s obvious if I should or not but I haven’t had a kitten since I was maybe 5 so I am pretty unsure if I need to switch into older cat food.

Hi. Usually there is no real reason to transition a kitten to cat food until they are at least 1yo. They really need to eat all they want in higher caloric foods until then. You might want to consider adding some kitten canned food though.

get him started on a variety of canned food asap if you plan to feed wet food later onotherwise its really difficult once they are grown
