So I just found out from my roommate that my cat has peed and pooped out side the litter box 3 days in a row. Wed Thrus and Fri. He didn't do it when I was home over the weekend. She thinks that he misses me but I'm gone for the same amount of time each day. This hasn't happened before. I've had him for 3 years. The only other time he peed inside was when there was another cat. Or when I go on vacation for over a week then he pees in my bed but this is in the rest of the apartment. Is he lonely or do you think there is another issue?

Hi! Due to it never having happened before, if it were me, I would make an appointment to see the vet.
Hang in there!!

A vet appointment should be the first stop with litter box issues. While it can be behavioral, it can also be illness driven from UTIs to ear infections have been known to cause litter box problems.

Once you've ruled out the physical ailments then look at behavioral.
