Is it normal for a kitty's anus to be sore for a few days after having a stool sample taken manually at the vet's office?

This was done at Kitty's visit on Tuesday. It looked a little irritated, to me, and he still seemed to be moving a bit more gingerly than normal even yet this morning.

I expect the vet will be calling in the next day or two with test results, so I will certainly ask then. But I wondered if anyone else had experience to share. (I don't dare do a Google search for "cat anus"!)

No, no don't google "cat anus." Some things you cannot unsee.

That said, I've never had to have that done with a cat, but I know they can get tender from constipation, so it would certainly be reasonable to assume than manual extraction would leave them a bit tender. If you have any olive oil, dab just a tiny bit on there 3-4 times a day. It will sooth things, and certainly won't do any harm.
