It's 12:30am and my appointment today was at 4:00pm. Let's just say I'm not feeling too well at this point. It's been a long, drawn out, painful day. So, this might be brief.
I had my upper and lower right wisdom teeth extracted this afternoon. The upper tooth was removed easily, but there were some issues with the bottom wisdom tooth. Apparently, the tooth cracked and broke apart. And, when it broke apart, it left a small piece of tooth still very much attached to the bone. It took many shots of Novocain and almost 30 minutes to remove the tooth fragment, but, thankfully, in the end, everything worked out. But, as to be expected, I'm not feeling well.
There was a lot of confusion about what antibiotics I should be prescribed. In fact, it was quite the debacle and I didn't even get home from having the procedure until after 8:00pm. The dentist originally prescribed Azithromycin, but I am allergic. He then prescribed Clindomycin. And, again, I am allergic. Finally, I asked my roommate to bring them a list of meds I can take and they agreed on Cipro and even called it in to the pharmacy. However, when I got to the pharmacy and gave the tech my name, she handed me a bag with a bottle of Clindomycin pills inside. It was a disaster and I wound up walking out without antibiotics! Thankfully, however, I had Cipro at home and took a dose along with the Vicodin (the dentist also wrote a script for Tylenol with Codeine, but I don't know whether to fill it or not -- is it stronger than the Vicodin?) the dentist prescribed. And, I'll have the prescription for Cipro filled by tomorrow morning. But, let me tell you, when you're in pain and slightly groggy, having to deal with miscommunications can be quite overwhelming.
My mouth hurts. A lot. I had a wisdom tooth and a molar removed in April and I do not remember this much pain associated with those extractions. Of course, the difference is that, this time, I had both upper and lower teeth removed, but I still am feeling much worse than I did in April. I have quite a bit of swelling and there is the beginning of some bruising. I've got a headache and I am feeling both overly warm and a little nauseated. The pain is also fairly severe. But, I suppose that all is to be expected. And, in just a little bit here, I'm going to be taking a shower and crawling into bed. I know the kitties and the dogs will help me to feel better -- they always do.
I guess my roommate left me the dishes to do and I still have my aforementioned shower to take, but aside from that and possibly grabbing something soft to eat (all I had for dinner was a little egg salad and a frozen Italian ice), I am planning on going to bed. Hopefully, sleeping will help.
To make a long story short, I had my wisdom teeth extracted and now I feel not-so-good. Vibes are welcome. Oh, and I'm grumpy
. Good story, huh?!
