Small hard lump on 6 month old kitten

My 6 month old kitten has had a lump between his ribs for an unknown amount of time (ever since I got back from a trip 3 weeks ago at least. I noticed it upon arrival but the person I live with hadn’t noticed). It was very large at first, at least an inch in diameter, but it has now shrunk to a centimetre maximum. It is between his ribs. I am unsure as to whether I should be concerned as it has shrunk so much.

I am curious if it is actually shrinking or if your cat has grown some so it seems smaller? If this was my kitty I would make an appointment with the vet to have that lump checked out. I would have any kind of growth, lump checked out personally even if it seems to be shrinking.
Can you see it or can you only feel it?

This is what i think about when it comes to anything that is "off" with my kitty. If it is something bad or harmful the sooner it is caught, the sooner it can be treated. Also if it turns out to be nothing at least I know and can rest assured that my baby is healthy.
