Red blood on stool

Hey folks,
Up at 5am and a bit worried about my boy and waiting to hear back from the vet.
My 15 year old male had chronic diarrhea and was prescribed prednisone 5 mg daily for a week. His last two bowel movements contained a spot of red blood in it. It isn’t “bloody stool” but seems like something is bleeding at the end of the poops journey out.
Any experience with this? Prednisone side effect? Butt not used to solid stool?

I had this happen to one of mine. Vet found nothing wrong and thought it might be stress related. I gave her s boulardii and after 3 days she was fine.

Might just be from irritation from the diarrhea.

I have had cats do it from straining from either dry bowel movements or the feeling that something else still needed to come out.
