Salutations! Happy first Tuesday of August ~~~~~
So one of my favourite little comfort shows, that is both interesting and heartwarming, is The Repair Shop. It is a show where people bring their precious items of family history to be fixed and restored. Here is a trailer or intro to get in idea for those unfamiliar:
Anypoo the point of this post is....
What family (Or any item that is important to you, doesn't have to be specifically from family) heirloom, artifact or antique would you bring to the shop to be restored and repaired?
*Last I checked, the BBC show does not charge! Donations are welcomed, although not necessary.
Hard to pick just one! I am blessed with quite a few family antiques that mean a lot to me, from handcrafted tablecloths and jewelry to furniture and war medals from WWI era. Probably one of the first things I would pick is one of the paintings done by my great grandmother. She was an amazing woman altogether in more ways than one, as well as being a very talented artist and grateful to own a couple of her works. This one in particular is quite special since it was in my bedroom since I was a baby (Although it lives in my living room now!) It is about a doctor who is checking up on a little girl who is feigning being ill lol Circa 1900. The photo doesn't really do it justice at the moment, but as you can tell it need cleaning/brightening up and TLC. Literally 122 years of grime build up that requires a specialist. You can barely see the wee doggo in the background for instance!
I would also love to bring my great father's WWI era medals as well from Finland, amongst other previous selections.
How about you folks?
