Well, I USED to have a bit of a zoo, but now I'm down to 1 cat, Evie, and 1 1/2 dogs.
My dog Peach is pretty much "joint custody" with my parents. She was the family dog when I was a teen and still lived at home. I took her with me when I moved, but my parents (Dad specifically!) missed her, so she lives with them most of the time. She's also kinda insane, so doesn't do well in "new" houses like the one I moved to!
So she's back and forth.
As for dogs in apartments, I completely agree! In general, anyway. My boy Quincy is HIGH energy, and we have just enough of a yard to let him potty in... But we take him out on long walks (about 4 hours a day!), so it works out.
