About a week ago my wife and I got a new male kitten. He's the only pet in the house so no others for him to take example from. We were told he is litter trained, and 7 weeks old... But he is tiny and could be anywhere from 5-7 weeks.
He is having a lot of problems with the litter tray. At first he wouldn't use it at all so I've been following online advice to keep showing him the tray at appropriate times etc and have beenusing newspaper. I've got him to the point where 9/10 times if u place him in the tray he will use it, or continue to if u catch him beginning to go outside of the tray and put him in.
I find find that he will get to the point were maybe once a day he will go to and use the tray himself as if trained, but then next time he needs to go will revert to using the carpet etc...
Does anyone have any advice in this respect? I know its only been 5-6 days so some patience is necessary and he is definitely improving, I'm just wondering if anyone has had similar problems/how they overcame them and maybe how long I should expect the training process to take? Many thanks in advance
