Does anybody have experiences they would share about what to do (or not) in a portfolio? It will be part of an application for a special high school program. It will contain student and parent letters, letters of recommendation, samples of school work and art work, last report card, lists of interests, etc. Only instructions are that it should be in a 1" portfolio or 1" binder, and the students are to write the letter on their own, but parents are encouraged to help with the list of interests and portfolio.
The binders all look so plastic-y, but it seems it would be a good idea to have a clear cover and put in a coversheet so it's easily identified, but we don't know what kind of binder is good to use... Since there will also be an interview with the applicant, should the cover include her picture? Any advice about portfolios would be appreciated!
