Hi Our 14 year old male cat named Butters was just diagnosed with Mesatonic Root cancer on his intestine. He has not been eating or drinking and had a very high white count and fever. Found it during an ultrasound. He is on hospice care right now as the specialist said it is not operable. He doesn't seem to be in any pain. He is on an antibiotic, apetite stimulant, cerenia for nausea. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions or has had a cat with this. We are hoping we have a bit more time with him. Best cat we've ever had.

Welcome to The Cat Site although I am sorry that Butters's condition is what brought you here. Just FYI, the other thread in which you posted has not been active for about 6 years, so you will possibly not receive a reply there. From what I am reading, you are concerned about palliative care for Butters? Some vets consider chemo to be part of this, so I was not sure if you had ruled that out. Ruling out surgery is probably a good decision from several perspectives. The following article details some palliative care for cats and includes various suggestions which may help you and Butters.

The thread that it was originally posted in by FeebysOwner FeebysOwner is also attached.

Please let us know how you and Butters are doing.

Oh - you are right. We have not discussed chemo, so I will. Thank you for the articles.
