Many of you will have heard of Al Chernoff, who was a tireless advocate and rescuer of cats in Philadelphia, PA. I am beyond shocked and saddened to learn that he was murdered last night. According to the coverage, the suspect is still being sought. Al's cats and his other companions have been gotten to safe haven, and his final expenses are being paid by good friends, though donations are needed. Here is one of the reports:
Beloved animal rescuer, 59, found slain in his Northeast Philly home
We in the cat advocacy community, as well as cats everywhere and all who care for them, have lost an irreplaceable member of our community. RIP Al Chernoff. May you be at peace knowing that your beloveds are all safe and will be well cared for and loved. May your murderer be found and given the harshest sentence possible here on earth, and Justice in the place where there is no hiding.

Yes, aliceneko aliceneko and yes, denice denice , I read that also. All of the animals he cared for in his home are reportedly safe. That is perhaps the only positive thing and surely he is at peace knowing this. Now to get the devil that did this to him and give it Justice.

Al Chernoff's "alleged" murderer is identified:
Ajahnae Smaugh is accused of killing Albert Chernoff, 59, with a blunt weapon late Monday night at his home in the 8400 block of Algon Avenue in Rhawnhurst.
She also was charged in the case with tampering with evidence, obstruction of justice, and possession of an instrument of crime, police said. The girl surrendered to homicide detectives Thursday.
