Hi all,

Cats paw (1yr old male) has an issue, took him too the vets who weren't able to diagnose. They sent us home with some ointment and anti-inflammatory, we've a checkup next week where they might take a biopsy.

Problem is, he's using the paw just fine! No puncture wounds, bleeding or inflammation, perhaps he's got some obscure infection? It's clearly irritating him (pink skin) but we've not noticed him over grooming or biting at the foot.

Well cat community, your options are much appreciated. Anyone got any experience?

Hi! Weird as this might sound, give his foot a sniff. Is there any odor?

Nothing it seems! Done the mental scan of all the usual, he's not changed food, no other marks or signs of punctures / bites / parasite, he's up-to-date on jabs and vaccines.... I'm optimistic it's just a dry paw that he's over groomed? Or an allergy is starting to emerge?

Does he go outside? If so, perhaps it is from some of the surfaces he walks on, up to an including rough and/or hot ones.
That could be it, perhaps something irritated his skin or he stepped he shouldn't have- worth locking him in for a couple weeks?

I would, if you can. Might help speed up the healing process along with the ointment and anti-inflammatories. If he drives you crazy, maybe you could give him some supervised time outside - preferably in a grassy area.
