A few here may remember Caspian from my thread about cat introductions almost two years ago. He was our oldest cat who had a number of health issues that only got added to since then. In the fall he was diagnosed with CKD and though we had that relatively under control with appetite stimulant and prescription food, he also had a heart issue we were never able to get him to a specialist for and at least one very scary and confusing bout of ataxia that spontaneously resolved and the vet never figured out a cause. After he recovered from that he was doing quite well, was energetic and eating and cuddling and happy. Until early last month when he very suddenly got very weak again. This time, after 24 hours he had only gotten weaker. We took him to the vet and made the decision that we weren't willing to let him suffer any longer. Though he didn't even have the energy to lift his head, he spent his last few minutes with us purring in my lap.

Sweet Caspian was our little motor. He purred so loud and so easily- even a mere pleasant thought aimed in his direction would get him purring. He is very missed.

what a beautiful boy......to be remembered and loved after death is an honor. He is at peace because he has your love. His will be deep in your soul for eternity because it is spiritual.
No, it sounded like it was time. you could not let that beautiful loving boy suffer. You took on his own pain as your own and sent him to his next journey where he will always be close at hand because the bond of love you share is a strong one and will always parallel your own. Try not to dwell on the end, it only brings heartache, but on his life and what wonderful memories you made together.
It takes a long time to heal a broken heart, but like you would want for him if you were the first to go, go forward into the future and seek life's love and beauty as it is meant to be. not dwelling in sorrow and tears. He wants no less for you because that is love.
I'm so sorry for your pain. Take care of yourself and those with you at the time. They need comfort and reassurance also. they are there for you to hold on to as long as you can. Then they live on in our memories and one day will bring a smile to our lips. He gave you one of this life's greatest treasures, a cat's love..........RIP precious Caspian. You will never be forgotten, you will always have a secure place in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

Rest you gentle, Caspian, dream you deep. Your pawprints are on someone's heart forever.

What a beautiful boy he was, is, and always will be! This is the deepest Truth I know, that love never dies. It is translated and purified into Love, and continues on. And I know that Caspian, from his home in That Place Where All Things Are Known, sends his Love back to you to walk with you down through all of your days. Because Love abides. Always, forever, Love abides.
