Onsior

Hi,
My cat is getting onsior for a bout of cystitis. She has been on it. The vet said that you need a break before restarting. I forgot to ask how many days that break has to be. Does anyone know? She is also taking gabapentin. She can't take buprinorphone because it caused severe constipation the last time she got it. Thanks

n the U.S., three days is the max for Onsior. I can't find anything that says how long the break from it has to be. That may actually be up to individual Vets. I have seen a couple of studies that seem to indicate long term use for pain does not seem to effect cats adversely, but the U.S. is much more stringent when it comes to drugs, so I doubt you would get that approved if you are in the states.

Best to just check back with your Vet.
