I dreaded turning 50, but it was such fun!

Friday I went out to dinner with friends to a Mexican restaurant. I had 2 double lime margaritas, hehe  We were going to go to the casino for an hour or so after but I was so full and so tired that I asked if we could go in a couple weeks instead, and make an evening of it with dinner there first. So we are going to do that.

Tonight my brother had a party for me.  Just family.

We had BBQ chicken done on the outside grill (in -20 degrees weather), scalloped potatoes and salad. He brines the chicken for 24 hours first, and it was so tender and juicy.

Then we played some games. One was called....hmmm.... actually I forget what it's called. It's an electronic hand held game where you have 2 teams.  The computer gives a phrase and you have to describe it without using words in the phrase or rhymes, and your team mates have to guess. Once they guess the phrase the machine is passed to the next person on the other team and they get a new phrase, and when they guess the phrase it's passed to the next team again.  The person who has the machine in their hand when the computer times out, loses for their team and the other team gets a point.

Then we had dessert and vegged for a bit.  Then played a game called "Pit"!  It's a trading game where you have to trade commodity cards such as oats, wheat, barley etc.  The idea is to get 9 of the same suit and ring the bell before anyone else.  OMG!  That game is such fun!  We were all yelling and shouting "Two!!" "Threee! Three!"  "One! One! One!" etc.  And were in fits of laughter!  It was a blast!  If anyone wants to try the game, I suggest planning for a good 4 hour game! Because the scores go up and down depending if you are caught with one of the two bad cards in your hand when someone rings the bell.

I got:

$50.00 cash and some hand care products from my brother along with a hysterical card that when opened flashed lights and played "I will survive" by Gloria Gaynor.

$25.00 gift card and a gorgeous plant from my sister-in-laws sister and husband. It's actually several succulant plants in a container of that green spongy stuff you sometimes see plants stuck into.  It's so pretty.

Chocolates from her other sister

And my brother sent me home with 2 - seven pound free range chickens, 1/4 of a ham from Christmas, 3 pounds of fresh pickerel, a large container of beet borscht.

I'll take some pictures tomorrow, and some of my manicure that I had done today and post the pictures.  Right now I'm so tired I'm heading to bed!    After I take some tylenol for my headache from all of that yelling,  lol I'm sure I'll be rather hoarse tomorrow!
