I think you should feed the cats until the traps are set. When hungry they will go looking for food in other places.

I concur about feeding the kittens. They are easier to trap when young because they are easier to tempt with food. It is the older kitties who are wilier. And it is discouraging when people are critical about cat rescue - I truly believe that it is their guilt speaking; I get a lot of ridicule and criticism for helping people, too.
