New Mum Behaviour

Hello my cat has just had her first litter of kittens 3 in total. It's now around 5 hours later and she keeps leaving the kittens and coming down to me and meowing is this normal?? She stops when clapped and is purring I don't think it's pain related

Some cats just aren't as motherly as others and sometimes it can take a little for them to adjust to being a mother. It can especially happen with young and first time Moms, she likely doesn't understand what is happening and feels safe with you as her Mom. Try to stay near the kittens so she will stay near them.
