Hi, my name is Lillian and my "baby" is Miss Kitty - named after the character on Gunsmoke. Miss Kitty was a stray, we think somebody dumped her by our house. We live in a rural, mostly forested area. My husband is definfitley not a cat person, but Miss Kitty looked so thin and gaunt when she first showed up on our doorstep he suggested we feed her. She is an outdoor cat, made it through last winter just fine. She is a great hunter, catching and eating mice, moles, chipmunks and squirrels and keeping them out of my vegetable garden.
A week or so ago, we saw a tower type kitty house at a garage sale and bought it for $1. Apparently it still has the smell of the previous cat(s) on it, so Miss Kitty isn't very interested in using it. I vacuumed it real good, but I wonder how best to deal with the previous kitty aroma (I can't smell a thing, of course). How do I convince Miss Kitty this is a better winter shelter for her than the cardboard box she sat in last winter? (Put a sardine inside?)
