I'm into Mongolian culture, and I find lots of inspiration for jewelry in their artifacts. The necklace is based on ancient Mongol leather armor. The armor had overlapping leather tabs, with a piece of silver metal in the center of each tab . I stamped the leather in a basketweave pattern, then dyed it, and hand-sewed the metal onto each tab. It was a PAIN to make!

Thats pretty neat.
I did a jewelry making course back in my school days and never forgot it..like to start it up again when I retire.
Love the Celtic designs as well, be similar to the Mongolian to make. Are the metal pieces hammered out and engraved or are they cast??

Very attractive, how long did it take you to make the necklace?

Beautiful! That takes some talent!

It reminds me a little bit of Berber and Kuchi necklaces. I used to perform tribal fusion belly dance and have a few pieces. I actually wore a Kuchi necklace for my wedding jewelry.
