I know a lot of us on TCS have nicknames for our kitties, so wanted to share how my foster kitten, Boo, earned his nickname.
You guys may recall that Boo's a feral kitten who came to me via the rescue for socialization. The first morning he was with me I went into the foster room with my coffee and a bagel topped with honey nut cream cheese. Between hisses Boo also started meowing at the top of his lungs. Not sure what he wanted, I offered him a little bit of cream cheese on the tip of my finger. He loved it and begged for more!
Of course, I didn't give him much, but I think this was the first step in earning Boo's trust. I've created a monster, though, because he keeps begging for it. As a result, I caught myself calling him my "little honey nut."
He loves it! Although Boo is still a little unsure about humans, that term of endearment seems to relax him and gets him purring every time.
Oh, and in case it's not already obvious, I'm getting very attached to Boo. The scared/shy ones always get to me.
