Nairobi is now 10 months old and had stress cystitis 3 months ago that resulted in a blocked bladder. He was treated for it and recovered well. He is on a special diet now.

BUT he still seems to pee on the bed, couch, in the bath everyday - even though clinically heis fine - playing, eating, zoomies, drinking water, also still using his litterbox occasionally.

What can I do to make him stop peeing outside his litterbox???

Clinically fine mean he has had a urinalysis recently? If so and he's fine, get him 2 litter boxes. Some cats like to pee in one,poo in another.

Two litter boxes sound idea. I would also try a different brand of litter. It will have a different scent from his current litter, so even if they are both clay, it will be new to him. It's possible he associates the pain from when he had the crystals with the current box or with the current litter.

Also try puppy pee pads in one of the litter boxes or use a low sided cardboard box lid with the pads. Keep other litterboxes, with litter, available as well. If he uses the pad lined box on a routine basis, you can gradually start to add some litter to it in an attempt to transition him back to using litter full time.

You may need a large number of both kinds of litter boxes placed in all the areas he hangs out in, so that there is always one nearby for him to use.

Cover the places he is peeing inappropriately with plastic tarps, you can even use plastic shower curtains if they are big enough. But, if you buy new ones, air them out first to rid them of that 'new plastic' smell. A lot of cats don't like the plastic, but it will also help you to reduce the cleaning efforts should he still go in those places despite the plastic. As far as the bath goes, if he is peeing in the bathtub/shower stall, place a litter box inside the tub/stall too. Using plastic bathmats, nubby side up, can help deter a cat from peeing wherever you place them as well.
