Maisie has been coming out of hiding more and this morning I slept in and she meowed at me because I took too long to get her breakfast. She really is quite a beauty.

She really is a beauty! It's somewhat rare for an orange cat to be a female, so you're lucky!

It is? I have had many orange females.
Sometimes that happens, but it really isn't very common.

I bottle fed & looked after a litter of 5 abandoned kittens during my teens, 3 were girls.

Jaws, Orange female
What a beauty! 
Alyssa and Jaws are so adorable too. Love their colour! 
Maisie looks so much like my late Cucumella that it hurts. She was also an orange cat wth a whiite chest and paws. She was very gentle and affectionate and I am told that that is a characteristic of orange cats. I'm so glad your Maisie is coming out of her shyness without doubt thanks to your patience and understanding.
