A lot of info here - thank you! Our cat Snarf just started on Mirtaz. He has not been eating a lot for months. Looks like he started eating more, but if on Mirtaz will he stop when he's full, or do we need to regulate amounts now? We've always just left kibble for him because he never finishes it, but today he ate the whole bowl already...lol... appreciate any guidance on this issue anyone has...

My cat has been on Mirataz for close to 3 years, and I have not really seen her overeat from it. But this med is new to your cat, and he might be reacting to the new sensation of feeling hungrier. Sometimes, dosing and frequency of Mirataz needs to be experimented with, as each cat can react a bit differently. If you are giving him a full dose every day, you could try applying just a half dose and see how he reacts. It may be that he won't need it daily either.

For now, just leave a bit less out for him so that he doesn't have as much to eat at one time. You can always give him more later as needed.
